Our story
At the University of Alabama, fashion and social events shape the rhythm of campus life. But along with that excitement comes a hidden cost—students, especially sorority women, often feel pressured to constantly buy new outfits for every event. This cycle of overspending, mental stress, and environmental harm is something we can’t ignore.
We started by asking: What if students didn’t have to choose between fitting in and being sustainable? Our solution began as an informational campaign, but quickly grew into something bigger: a website that directly connects students to local and digital resources for sustainable fashion.

Our mission
The mission of Alabama Clothing Exchange is to make sustainable fashion simple, accessible, and community-driven for University of Alabama students and the Tuscaloosa community.
We aim to break the cycle of overspending and overconsumption on clothing by providing a central hub where people can buy, sell, donate, and swap outfits—all while learning about the social, financial, and environmental impact of their choices.

What makes us different
Alabama Clothing Exchange is a resource hub that gives students the tools to shop more sustainably. Our website links to trusted places where students can buy, sell, rent, or donate clothing, making it easy to find affordable and eco-friendly options for gamedays, formals, and everyday wear. By gathering these resources in one place, we help students save money, reduce waste, and rethink how fashion fits into campus life.
